Horseshoe Bend is a quintessential Western landmark that’s worth a stop to grab that iconic photo in Northern Arizona.
Horseshoe Bend is a sharp turn in the Colorado River, framed by vermillion cliffs.
The public overlook is just outside Page, Arizona. It is part of the Glen Canyon National Recreational Area.
The area makes a great stop if you’re visiting Monument Valley, Grand Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, or other stops near the Four Corners.
While the area is part of the National Parks Service, your America the Beautiful pass won’t apply here. The City of Page manages the parking lot, with a $5-10 parking fee.
The parking lot has space for RVs, and also has accessible single-stall vault toilets.
The path to Horseshoe Bend overlook
From the parking lot, you’ll walk 1.5 miles roundtrip to the overlook.
The path to the overlook is flat, Architectural Barriers Act-compliant. Leashed dogs are allowed.
Along the way, there are two shade structures, but there is otherwise no shade. Plus, there is no shade at the overlook itself. There is no water available in the area, so come prepared.
Once you reach the overlook, enjoy the gorgeous view and snap that famous photo. Please, be aware of the edge when trying to get your shot.
And do keep in mind that this is a very popular area.
While you likely won’t struggle to find parking in the large lot, you also won’t find solitude here. We even saw someone propose during our visit!
Nonetheless, Horseshoe Bend is an iconic Western landmark that is definitely worth a stop!
